ABOUT ME
On every other photographer's profile you will see them say that they have been taking pictures for as long as they can remember, and usually that's completely true. It is for me! I was born in the nineties and I remember seeing and having some odd cameras. I remember one longer instant camera I had that I took on a school field trip and took pictures of my friends.
On one of my birthdays, I finally asked my mom for a digital camera, and I think that is when my eye for photography started developing. One photo in particular I remember is of my dog at the time and myself. That dog's name was DeeDee. Seeing a theme here now? DeeDee is no longer with us, but I will always remember that photo (I really wish I knew where it was....hmmm), and because of that photo I decided to name my photography journey after her: For DeeDee. It's an ode to my first dog, as well as an ode to a time where my eye for photography and photo editing began to develop.
I am sure this is common with a lot of us photographers, we lose interest. Our cameras collect dust, we forget what we had learned, and that is mostly because we are still growing. I was about 10 years old when I first took that pictures of DeeDee and I, and sure enough my camera collected dust and I thought I wanted to be something else other than a photographer. Maybe a dog trainer, maybe an animator, maybe a painter. I changed my mind quite a bit.
Eventually the camera called to me once again, and I purchased my first point and shoot, a little Canon SX250 or something. I worked mostly on AUTO, but it did teach me perspective and some editing. Soon enough, I dove into the world of DSLRs and purchased my first one, a Canon EOS Rebel XS, which I still have to this day.....but is somewhere in storage. I also have a small collection of lenses.
Once more, my camera and supplies collected dust. This time I wanted to see if I could make a career out of dog walking. It lasted a year, but didn't stick because where I lived at the time was very slow business. Then other themes of life happened and I moved again.
Now, here I am, another attempt, but with a stronger want I suppose (gosh I hope it becomes something more than just a passion in my head...). I started off by offering free shoots, just to get my feet wet (literally, especially at those amazing beach shoots I did!) and get to know some amazing Long Beach natives.
And now here we are, I typed all this and you read it all, I assume. Totally okay if you didn't.
But hello! My name is Cyndi! I enjoy nature and pet photography, but I also have a soft spot for candid photos. I LOVE capturing raw emotion through my lens. If you're having a good time, so am I, and I love seeing this through a lens and capturing the moment for you. Let me capture these moments for you.
